For this piece, I was asked had to write about an environmental problem the Susquehanna River is facing. I was able to use any genre I wanted. I chose to write an essay about pollution in the Conestoga River (a tributary of the Susquehanna) that is a mix of creative non-fiction and fact reporting. I felt that blending these two genres would increase the overall emotional impact and relevance of the piece.
